School in French Guiana

2019 – Remire Montjoly, French Guiana

The project for this school won the first price in a competition organized by the municipality of Remire Montjoly.

The project is located is Remire’s first Ecoquartier and it includes a primary and a secondary school designed following the principles of bioclimatic architecture, especially important in an equatorial environment.

It has been conceived bearing in mind the minimization of costs and  earthworks in a context of relatively steep relief, with the possibility of being implemented in phases.

The materials used are the locally produced raw earth bricks and angelique hardwood.
